MAKING GOOD WEATHER OF IT FOR OVER 30 YEARS
1964: it was the age of oilskins made in coated cotton. They were not known for being comfortable; however and unfortunately, famous for being easily damaged. 1964 was also the year that Guy Cotten and his wife develop a tougher cloth; the lightness of the fabric allows for doubling the thickness, even tripling it around the knees.
It's a revolution on the docks

The ROSBRAS jacket
|
1965-70: We see the emergence of sailing clubs whose population is explosive. At the time you could either find jackets with a couple of buttons on them or pea-jackets that you slipped over the head. Not very practical! The founder and director of the Rosbras Nautical Center, Yvon Hemery, wondered aloud, "How is it that no one's come up with a jacket that's as waterproof as the pea-jacket and at the same time as practical as conventional jackets?" Guy Cotten takes up the challenge... within a few days students at the Center are testing the first oilskin jackets to have a double strap that closed by sliding a plastic zipper on one side and using velcro® on the other.
The ROSBRAS jacket is born.

The OCÉANIC vest
|
From 1976 on, we see more and more large races on the open sea; there is a craze for the ocean and the beginning of corporate sponsorships only help the success. The "Nav" jacket is launched and joins the large family of oilskins (30 pieces).
Le "Skipper" vest, with its unmatched comfort, has also made its mark.
Those "basic" models from the first years have naturally seen continual development and today form part of a family of garments specialized in fishing and boating.
Even if we are seeing a return to the classic yellow oilskins, the firm's brand image, a product that has undergone great improvement and today belongs to a group of clothing which are of the highest quality:
